Does the job
This product does what is suppose to and is a very affordable alternative to the more expensive and elaborate options out there. I use this with the standard Art of Shaving badger brush. Just a few things to keep in mind:

1 - This product is plastic.
2 - This brush stand is meant to hold your brush upside down where the bristles enter the handle NOT at the handle bevel! I.E. the entire handle goes above the U shaped cut out while the bristles hand below. I thought I got the wrong size at first since I was trying to figure out how in the world the brush would fit when the cut out was to skinny and there was not enough vertical space for the brush itself. Finally my wife showed me that I was simply inserting the brush at the wrong location.

great brush holder
this little holder is very functional and sturdy. I have been using it for a number of months, and the only thing I can think that is wrong is that it is a bit short so if you have a long handled brush it could be an issue. However, it more than handles the standard shaving brush and I would recommend to get it.

The only thing I'm not allergic to
This is the only deodorant I've found that I'm not allergic to. I've searched quite far and wide and haven't found another men's deodorant that's actually hypoallergenic.

This one, despite the unfortunate name, works well and smells nice, to the point that people will tell me I smell good and ask what cologne I'm wearing. (I don't wear cologne.) It's not an overpowering scent, though, and somehow it doesn't bother my skin.

It's too bad it's so expensive, but for men with sensitive skin, it's worth it!

Excellent lather and glide
Truefitt & Hill Luxury shave soap lathers very easily, and produces enough thick lather for several passes. The lather provides an excellent glide without skips or drag. The lather will start to breakdown faster than a cream, but this is not uncommon for hard soaps. The glycerin based soap cake contains no alcohol or waxes, and will not dry out the skin. The very light lavender scent from the added lavender essential oil is mild and fast fading, with no extra fragrances added, making this suitable to be called an unscented product and a viable option for sensitive skin. The lather rinses clean, and leaves no residue. This shave soap is only for use with a quality shave brush.

Perfect soap and fragrance
Truefitt & Hill is a gentleman's grooming company established in 1805. To commemorate Lord Nelson's victory in battle Truefitt & Hill named one of their top fragrances for this occasion. This being Trafalgar.

I mainly use the replacement soap that Truefitt & Hill sell for my wooden soap bowl I bought from them; however, when traveling this makes it rather awkward.

Truefitt & Hill knows men are on the go, but still enjoy a great shave, so have created these wonderful soap jars to take with you on travel.

As with the brick soap, these soap jars last a very long time; as you only need a small amount for a good thick lather, with a distinguishing scent that is rather haunting, and not overly strong. One jar of Truefitt & Hill shave soap, much like the brick soap by Truefitt & Hill lasts about as long as approx 8 or so aerosol cans of shave cream. I can judge this as my roommate uses aerosol shaving cream. Plus aerosol cans use a numbing agent which harm the skin later throughout the day unlike brick or jar soap by Truefitt & Hill. So its actually cheaper, smells better, better quality shave, and lasts longer.

I prefer the Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar scent, however, all the scents by Truefitt & Hill are very good. It is just a matter of taste and preference of what one enjoyes.

Trafalgar is a subtle, haunting rich scent of sandlewood, lavender,jasmine and other spices; blended nicely to be very appealing, but not over powering. Basically, just authorative and confident. One can honestly see why Truefitt & Hill named this fragrance after the Battle that Lord Nelson led England into victory.

Also note, with the jar creams by Truefitt & Hill a shave brush is not needed although I still use mine when I need to travel and take my jar with me. You can easily use your finger tips, about the size of a US quarter 'or less' to massage on the face usually does the trick. With a true 'real quality' shave soap you don't need much, nor a huge lather either.

The shave will make you almost become impatient for the next day as so you can shave again. The day is long and hard on every man, so why not give yourself something to start the day off with right? Something that also has a long history behind it as well.

A last piece of information: I always purchase my Truefitt & Hill through [...] from The Grooming Lounge and will remain doing so. As I find The Grooming Lounge to be very fast with deliveries, plus packaging is beyond words by them. A good shaving is priceless; but a great seller who takes care of your shaving needs is also just as priceless. True Luxury
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE "1805" VERSION but probably applies to all.

Truefitt and Hill have been making shaving cream since 1805 and this is one of their core products. They are justly proud of it, to the point of naming it "1805".

This is an amazingly effective shave cream. It does all the things the best quality creams do and does them well: softens the beard, lubricates and conditions the skin.

The best way to apply this cream is with a brush. A small scoop of the cream, about what you get from wiping the end of one finger into the cream, will result in a huge mass of rich velvety meringue-like lather. Stick that little dollop onto a wet brush, use the brush to work up a good lather in a shaving mug or bowl then apply the resulting lather to your beard. (Some men prefer to work up the lather right on the beard and skip the mug or bowl.) Considering how little is needed, the price is less than it first appears.

The scent of 1805 is very elegant. It is reserved and understated. It is the fresh scent of sea air. You will feel like royalty when you use it. As a matter of fact, quoting the Trueffit and Hill web page: "Trueffit and Hill has had the distinction of serving as barbers and Royal Warrant holders to H.R.H., The Duke of Edinburgh and other members of The Royal Family for the past nine reigns."

Now I am not one to go around "tarted up" with a lot of scented toiletries so the subtlety of this fragrance is just right for me.

Highly recommended. I doubt I will have the patience to wait for it to run out before trying one of their other scents.

Everything I Expected from a Six Dollar Brush Holder
This holder works well. The grooved "rack" that holds the brush in place will fit most sizes of shaving brush. It is made of a hard plastic, and does not look like it will be easy to break. There is also an adhesive sticker that allows you to easily mount it on the wall.

The stand is important because it allows the brush to dry in the best position, with the bristles pointing down.

Black Shaving Brush Holder
It's a no-brainer. Got a shaving brush, then get a brush holder. Helps prolong the life of your shaving brush. It was delivered on time, a little pricey if you ask me.

Not much to it...
You put your brush in it, it stays. If you want, you can stick it on the wall (I don't, I leave in in the cabinet). It's not much to look at, but it's cheap, and it does the job.

Great product
I am a long-time victim of ingrown hairs. I used to think they were pimples. However, the quick review of literature led to understand they were actually ingrown hairs. I tried this stuff about a week ago, and the results are amazing. No ingrown hairs! Plus, it smells/feels amazing. The only downside to this product is the cost. But I guess you get what you pay for.

If I were to do it over again, I would buy the ingrown hair kit. I refused to pay the extra $25 for the entire kit. But what the kit does it treat AND PREVENT the ingrown hairs. Next, I'll know better.

Great moisturizer, pleasing scent, helps with ingrown hair
I have very sensitive skin, so I am always reluctant to try new skin care products. I end up returning too many because of the impact on my skin.

This product not only did not irritate my skin, it also helped with minor ingrown hair issues, and was a good moisturizer as well.

The scent of the product is minty and manly, in my humble opinion.

All in all, the product worked well for me, someone with very sensitive skin.

No Pain during Shave
Very good product

With this product, I feel no Pain during electric shave! Good smell and leaves the skin soft.

I do not think enhances the shave that much (closer), but definitely helps the skin!

Is it worth it? Yes
I had never heard of shave oil, but a friend got me hooked on it.
What you do is put a small amount (the size of a nickle) on your palm rub your hands together and than apply to your face. This is very sticky so make sure you wash your hands before you use your razor. Your beard will have a sticky feel to it and your hair will be standing straight up. You than apply your normal shaving cream over your face. You will get the closest shave of your life.

Now onto the cost of the Art of Shaving oil. It is costly and there are cheaper oils out there. However none of the cheaper brands smell as nice as the Art of Shaving and for that alone it is worth the price. The one detractor to using the oil is that you will go thru your normal razor blades in half the time, so if you hate buying blades the shave oil may not be for you.

PS The Art of Shaving rep said that Lavender is supposed to help mositurieze your face.

Awesome product !!!
I have been using this product since the last 10 odd months and the difference it has made in my morning shaving routine is just priceless. I have the entire kit, with the pre-shave oil, shaving cream, lathering brush and this after-shave balm (lavender). I also have the art of shaving book. This was my wonderful wife's gift to me on my birthday and I can't thank her enough. The book actually improved my shaving technique and my skin over a period of time...

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to enjoy shaving!!!

Good blam but why so expensive?
I don't want to sound so girly here, but I do have a sensitive skin. So whenever I shave, I ended up bleeding all over and it takes time for my face to heal. Darn. I've used this product for about a year now, and definitely has helped my skin calm down and heal better. Maybe it's all in my head, but I religiously use this balm after I shave to protect and heal my skin. Very good product, like it a lot cuz no scent and feels light. But does it have to be so expensive?

Hate to say it but...
It's not that the Art of Shaving products are a scam, they are just very over-priced. In each of their products, I've been able to substitute a cheaper alternative with the exception of this after shave balm.

This balm gives my sensitive skin the best relief over any other after shave I've tried, and I've tried many. Fragrance is present, but not as over powering as most after shave balms. Also, like Eucerin (a dry skin cream), the balm leaves a residue, which some might not like, but for me it seems to be the key in making the product both unique and effective.

Please, someone find me a cheaper alternative!
